About us

Having over 30 years of experience with horses, Timothy D. Robinson felt like using his experience to provide a service to the public that Maine seemed to be lacking. Thus, the idea of TD Robinson's Horse Drawn Carriage Service became realized. But before the project could go any farther, we needed a hearse.

The search began in 2007.

After a couple of years of searching, finally, in 2009, our horse drawn hearse was discovered in a barn in Belchertown, Massachusetts. The hearse was originally built for a funeral home on Cape Cod, MA. After doing some research, it is believed that the hearse was built by Tolman Russel and Company of Worcester, MA during the 1800's. Tolman Russel and Company was one of the leading manufacturers of horse drawn hearses from 1867 to 1872.

The hearse was restored to its original glory by the owner and operator of TD Robinson's, Timothy D. Robinson, in North Berwick, Maine, and is now available for hire.

TD Robinson's is a member of Carriage Operators of North America, also known as CONA. CONA is "comitted to promoting the humane welfare of carriage animals, quality carriage and customer service."
